How it Works
The ACR Microfix comes with it’s own integral GPS (global positioning system) receiver to acquire your GPS position to within around 100 yards before transmitting your coordinates. The beacon’s first burst can notify SAR forces that you are in difficulty in as little as three minutes. Transmitting on a frequency of 406 MHz (hence the 406 in the name) a second signal is also broadcast on 121.5 MHz (SAR local homing frequency) to guide search parties both on the ground and in the air to your precise position, avoiding wasteful searches over a wide area and the inevitable and the serious consequences that delay that would entail.
